Reading : )

Lately Luis has been reading up a storm! Everywhere we go he's sounding words out. Right now he's working on the same beginning reading books Sierra learned to read on. If you have kids that are ready to learn to read, Bob Books rock. They are super simple, which really encourages children. And they get harder very gradually. They use a ton of sight words and repetition but not in a way the the child gets bored. Most of the learn to read books out there have so many words on each page that a child opens it up and automatically thinks there is no way they can read that.

Every night Hector and I read to both of our kids. We take turns each night he'll read to one I'll read to another. When he's gone I do the both of course so tucking the kids in goes from taking a half an hour to a full hour. But it's so worth it. Reading to them not only makes them amazing readers but gives them such wonderful imaginations.
